Excel & Reporting Support
A spreadsheet that needs fixing should have a clear next step.
I help small businesses correct Excel problems, clean imported data and simplify recurring reports. You work directly with Hunter Combs on an agreed task.
Send a general description and deadline. Please leave out attachments and confidential details.
Small fixes start at $150
One clearly defined workbook issue. A corrected file, checked calculations and a short walkthrough.
I confirm the full scope, price and turnaround before you decide to go ahead.
What I can help with
Reports and formulas
Totals that miss new rows, inconsistent calculations and recurring checks before a report goes out.
Imported data
Amounts stored as text, inconsistent dates, duplicate records and exports that need a clear, agreed format.
Repeat cleanup
Manual steps that can be made clearer or more repeatable within the agreed workbook.
Your handover
A correction, a change summary, checks against the agreed result and a short walkthrough.
See the checks in practice
Fictional demonstrations. All names and amounts below are invented. These show a method, not client results.
1. A total misses an invoice
Before
$420
The total includes $240 and $180 but misses the next $320 invoice.
After
$740
All three invoices are included, and the total is checked against the source rows.
| Invoice | Amount (USD) |
|---|---|
| DEMO-001 | $240.00 |
| DEMO-002 | $180.00 |
| DEMO-003 | $320.00 |
The repair: replace the fixed range with an expanding table total, reconcile all source rows and test the result after adding another fictional invoice.
2. Currency looks numeric but will not calculate
Before
$0 counted
Three currency amounts are stored as text, so SUM ignores them.
After
$2,600 counted
Valid amounts of $1,200, $850 and $550 are converted and reconciled.
The repair: validate the imported values, convert valid amounts to numbers and leave missing or invalid entries visible for review.
Another example: markup versus margin
With a $100 product cost, a $125 price gives $25 gross profit and a 20% gross margin. A 25% target requires $133.34 when rounding the required price up to the next cent.
The check uses gross profit divided by selling price. Only product cost is included in this fictional example.
How a small repair works
1. Describe the issue
Tell me what the spreadsheet should do, what is going wrong and your deadline. A general description is enough to start.
2. Agree the task
We define the output, acceptance checks, fee and turnaround. Confidentiality and a suitable transfer method are agreed before any private-file review.
3. Review the correction
You receive the corrected workbook, a summary of changes, the agreed checks and a short walkthrough.
Start with the problem, not the file.
Please do not send private workbooks or customer records with your first message.
